Influenza (Flu) Shot
Annual protection against seasonal influenza for everyone 6 months and older. Publicly funded for eligible B.C. residents each fall — we’ll confirm your eligibility at the counter.
COVID-19 Vaccine
Current-season mRNA boosters for adults and children, timed to your last dose or infection. Free for eligible B.C. residents through the provincial program.
Shingles (Shingrix)
A two-dose series recommended for adults 50+ and immunocompromised adults 18+. Not publicly funded in B.C. for most adults, but commonly reimbursed by extended health plans.
RSV Vaccine
Respiratory syncytial virus protection for older adults and other higher-risk groups. Publicly funded for specific eligibility groups; available privately otherwise.
Pneumococcal (Prevnar 20)
Protection against pneumonia, meningitis and bloodstream infections. Recommended for adults 65+ and for younger adults with certain chronic conditions.
Tdap & Td Boosters
Tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis (whooping cough) boosters — including the dose recommended in every pregnancy and after a wound or injury.
Hepatitis A & B
Single-antigen or combined (Twinrix) schedules for health care and trades workers, students entering clinical programs, and anyone wanting long-term protection. Hepatitis B is a 3-dose series — we can arrange an anti-HBs antibody test to confirm immunity afterwards.
HPV (Gardasil 9)
Human papillomavirus vaccine to reduce the risk of cervical, throat and other HPV-related cancers. Two- or three-dose schedules depending on your age.
Adult Catch-Up & Missing Records
No immunization record, or doses you never finished? We reconstruct what we can, review the B.C. schedule with you, and complete your primary series or boosters safely — from age 12 onward.
MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
Two doses on or after the first birthday, or lab evidence of immunity. Commonly requested by colleges, universities and health care employers before a placement begins.
Varicella (Chickenpox)
Two doses, or documented history of disease or lab evidence of immunity — one of the standard requirements for health care students and staff.
Polio (IPV)
Adults who never completed a primary series should have it completed, regardless of how long ago the last dose was given.
Meningococcal (Menactra / Bexsero)
Recommended for students in shared residence and for laboratory personnel routinely exposed to N. meningitidis. Not publicly funded for most adults.
TB Skin Test (Mantoux)
Quick, reliable testing to detect tuberculosis infection early — required by many colleges, universities and health care employers. Two short visits: the test is placed, then read 48–72 hours later, and you leave with signed documentation.
Vitamin B12 Injections
B12 injections for patients with diagnosed deficiency or absorption issues, given on the schedule your prescriber has set.

Adult Immunization Catch-Up & Student Vaccine Requirements
Lost your childhood records after a move or an immigration to Canada? Missed doses as a kid? Starting a college program, a nursing or health care placement, or a new job that asks for proof of immunity? We build you a complete, documented immunization plan — and then deliver it, dose by dose.
Your pharmacist reviews whatever records you do have, identifies the gaps against the B.C. immunization schedule and current BCCDC and WorkSafeBC guidance, and maps out your primary series or boosters with the correct intervals between doses. Where a titre (blood test for immunity) makes more sense than repeating a series, we’ll tell you. You leave with a written plan and, at the end, the official documentation your school or employer needs. We serve students and staff from across British Columbia, not just the Semiahmoo Peninsula.

Where can I get a flu shot in White Rock?
New Era Pharmacy at 1589 George St #1, White Rock, BC offers walk-in and pre-booked flu shots throughout the season, usually from early October. Influenza vaccine is provided free to eligible B.C. residents, and our pharmacists can immunize anyone aged 4 and older.
Do I need an appointment to get vaccinated?
No — walk-ins are welcome for most vaccines during pharmacy hours. That said, booking online guarantees your spot and lets us have your vaccine ready, which is especially helpful during peak flu season or if you’re bringing the whole family. Multi-dose series and TB skin tests should always be booked ahead, so we can reserve both visits for you.
Do I need a doctor’s referral or a family physician?
No. Pharmacists in British Columbia are authorized to assess and administer vaccines independently. You don’t need a referral, a family doctor, or a prior prescription for the vaccines we provide.
Who do you vaccinate — what ages?
We vaccinate patients 12 years of age and older. That covers teens catching up on missed doses, students heading to college or university, working adults, and seniors due for shingles, pneumococcal or RSV protection. We don’t immunize children under 12 — for younger children, please see your family doctor, a walk-in clinic, or your local Fraser Health public health unit.
Can I get my flu shot and COVID-19 vaccine at the same visit?
In most cases, yes. Current guidance allows influenza and COVID-19 vaccines to be given at the same appointment, typically in separate arms. Your pharmacist will confirm this is appropriate based on your health history and your last COVID-19 dose or infection.
How much do vaccines cost at your White Rock vaccination clinic?
It depends on the vaccine and your eligibility. Influenza and COVID-19 vaccines are free for eligible B.C. residents, and several routine vaccines are publicly funded for specific age or risk groups. Others — including Shingrix for most adults, hepatitis A and B, and the TB skin test — are paid privately or claimed through an extended health plan. We always quote the exact price before administering anything, and the consultation itself is free.
Do you give the shingles vaccine (Shingrix)?
Yes. Shingrix is a two-dose series recommended for adults 50 and older, and for immunocompromised adults 18 and older. It is not publicly funded for most adults in B.C., but many extended health plans reimburse it — we’ll give you an itemised receipt for your claim.
What should I bring to my appointment?
Your BC Services Card (CareCard), any immunization records you have, a list of your current medications, and your extended health details if you have coverage. If you’re starting a college program, a clinical placement or a new job, bring the immunization checklist they gave you and we’ll work straight from it.
Are there side effects I should expect?
Most people experience only mild, short-lived effects — a sore arm, mild fatigue, headache or a low-grade fever for a day or two. Serious reactions are rare, which is why we ask you to stay for a 15-minute observation period after your shot. Your pharmacist will go through what to watch for and when to call us.
Will my vaccination be recorded?
Yes. Every dose we administer is submitted to the provincial immunization registry and kept on file at the pharmacy. You’ll receive a printed record on the day, and we can reprint or reissue it any time you need it for work or school.
Do you do TB skin tests?
Yes. We provide the TB skin test (Mantoux) for students, health care workers and anyone whose employer requires one. It takes two short visits: the test is placed at the first visit, then read by your pharmacist 48 to 72 hours later. You leave with signed documentation for your school or employer. Please book both visits together so the reading window isn’t missed.
I have no immunization records at all. Can you still help?
Absolutely — it’s one of the most common reasons people come to see us. Your pharmacist reviews whatever you do have, checks the provincial registry where possible, and builds a catch-up plan against the B.C. immunization schedule. Where a blood test for immunity is more sensible than repeating a series, we’ll say so. There’s no charge for the assessment.
My college or university program needs proof of immunization. What do I need?
Requirements vary by school and program, but health care and lab programs most often ask for a hepatitis B series with an anti-HBs antibody test, MMR, varicella, Tdap, polio and a TB skin test. Bring your program’s checklist and we’ll work straight from it, then give you documented proof for submission. Start early — the hepatitis B series alone runs about six months.
